Crisis in Africa

Reaching out to those in need...

UgandaUganda is one of the poorest countries on earth! In a country where many people have lost hope, our Sisters are reaching out to those most in need through pastoral work in hospitals, schools, prisons and villages. The Sisters are also working with young children -- teaching them the basic skills they need to build a future for themselves and their world!

kenyaKenya is one of Africa's most beautiful countries! Its lush green valleys, majestic mountains and magnificent lakes and rivers make it one of Africa's true treasures. But it is also one of the world's poorest nations. As most of its 34 million residents survive on $1-a-day or less, diseases such as AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis continue to claim thousands of lives every month -- mostly adults. As a result, more than half of those living today in Kenya are children under the age of 18.

tanzaniaIn Tanzania, the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate are working in hospitals to help those affected by widespread disease and famine. Our Sisters also provide assistance to boys and girls who have been orphaned by diseases such as AIDS as well as children who are homeless and living in the streets.

With the financial help the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate receive from friends and benefactors, we have opened two hospitals so as to offer medical care for young children and those in need. We are also providing education and counseling services to orphaned teens, as well as helpin them develop life skills!
